At Trimplant, our strength lies in our people. Since our founding in 1990 by David O’Brien, we’ve grown into a respected name in the demolition industry—thanks to the vision, leadership, and expertise of our team.
Now under the guidance of Andrew O’Brien, Trimplant continues to build on its legacy of reliability, quality, and client satisfaction. From experienced project managers and engineers to skilled demolition specialists, each member of our team plays a key role in delivering successful outcomes for our clients.
We take pride in our collaborative approach, attention to detail, and commitment to safety. It’s this combination of professionalism and passion that keeps our clients coming back—and keeps us striving to raise the bar with every project.
David O’Brien began his career in 1975 as a machine operator in the groundworks sector, contributing to major civil engineering projects with Dermot Reilly & Mulcair Civil Engineering (later known as Roadbridge). After gaining extensive experience in infrastructure development, he founded Trimplant in 1989. Under his leadership, the company grew into a well-respected name, successfully completing site development projects across large-scale infrastructure, residential, and commercial sectors, including notable projects like Fiachra’s Garden at the National Stud in Co. Kildare and the development of Citywest Business Park.
In 2003, David ventured into the hospitality industry, embarking on the development of the four-star Trim Castle Hotel. After years of careful planning and construction, the hotel opened in 2006. He successfully managed the hotel for 17 years before selling it in 2023.
Today, David remains an influential figure in the industry, advising and mentoring his son Andrew, who currently serves as the Managing Director of Trimplant. His decades of expertise and commitment have left a lasting legacy in both the construction and hospitality sectors.
Andrew O’Brien developed a strong passion for construction from an early age, growing up surrounded by plant and machinery. Gaining early on-site experience before the introduction of the “Safe Pass,” he was able to immerse himself in the industry firsthand.
After completing his education at Clongowes Wood College in 2008, Andrew faced the challenges of the global economic downturn, which resulted in limited opportunities in the construction sector. However, as the industry gradually recovered in 2012, he re-entered the field, accumulating over a decade of experience in demolition and civil engineering sectors.
In 2023, Andrew relaunched Trimplant, driven by his experience in machinery, demolition, and civil engineering. Under his leadership, the company has grown to be a prominent player in the industry, focusing on modern methods, advanced machinery, and a commitment to quality and safety. Today, he continues to drive Trimplant’s growth while maintaining its high standards.)
Pat Canty graduated in 2001 with a BA honours degree in Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering and a BA in Mathematics from Trinity College Dublin. Over the past 20 years, Pat has led engineering efforts on numerous residential, commercial, and industrial projects, gaining extensive experience across various developments. Now back at Trimplant, he applies his expertise to efficiently manage sites, ensuring projects are completed with precision, quality, and efficiency. His leadership continues to be a valuable asset to the company.
